Glenn Beck was the spark that generated our group in Akron when he suggested we meet as a group and watch his program on March 13, 2009.  After a great turnout, a few people emerged as leaders.  Although it was a slow start, more and more people have become involved.

Members were urged to attend local April 15th TEA Parties, as there was not one planned in Akron.  The Medina, Canton and Cleveland TEA Parties were well attended by our members.

Soon, other groups in the area contacted us and we all merged our efforts.

We finally planned our TEA Party in August, hoping for the best on our shoestring budget.  To our surprise, over 7,000 patriots attended our TEA Party, which of course energized us to move forward.

We now have a secondary website (http://www.summit912.com) for blogging and up to date information.

Many protests have been held in front of our Representative’s office (Betty Sutton) and she has still refused to meet with our group.

For the 2010 elections, we have a group of us that are “vetting” candidates.  We have decided to “vet” any politician before he or she can speak to our group.  This has proven to be a great tool.

We have also started bi-weekly Saturday Morning Breakfast meetings.  We hold them in a room at the Golden Corral in an easily accessible location.  Attendance has been great, and it is good for members who cannot meet during the week.  Speakers have been or will be from local talk radio, our group organizers, candidates and people who have a story to tell, or an issue they are involved in.  It’s also a great way for members to get a friend or neighbor to a meeting, who may be on the fence about getting involved.

A new addition to our calendar is “TEA Party Tuesdays”.  We meet at a pub on the first Tuesday of each month to socialize, unwind, discuss, plan, etc- just to get to know each other better in a social setting instead of in a meeting setting.  A lot of good ideas have come from this and it is also a great way for members to bring a friend who may be a future great asset to the group.  We coordinate these outings with the Medina group, who hosts their “TEA Party Tuesdays” on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

We have a Second Amendment Group, chaired by Bob Keller.  We began the 2nd amendment meetings to educate and inform ourselves and other like minded friends of the 2nd amendment.   The goal is to grow across a multi- county region to unite fellow patriots on the basis of our constitutional rights.   We will also put an emphasis on the 10th amendment for state sovereignty.

We are planning a 2nd Amendment Summit with a confirmed date to host Sheriff Richard Mack on March 13, 2010.   This will involve creating an invitational letter to send to every sheriff of every county in the state of Ohio and their deputies that will inform them of their constitutional authority and jurisdictions for their respective counties.   We believe this unification of sheriffs across the state is the only effective and legitimate reinforcement of state sovereignty.

There are many groups in Northeast Ohio, and usually one or more of our members attend their events.  Many of us attended the March on DC in September, and can’t wait to go back when needed.

We are a 527c PAC.

There are plans for a TEA Party in the spring.
